For adventure riders who spend the majority of their miles carving up the tarmac, Bridgestone has just unveiled your next set of rubber. Launching globally on January 1, 2027, the all-new Bridgestone BATTLAX ADVENTURE A42 is designed to take the best elements of its highly successful predecessor the A41 and push them even further.
Over the last decade, the European adventure motorcycle tire market has grown by 45%, with a massive portion of riders prioritizing street handling, safety in the wet, and high mileage. Bridgestone’s A42 directly targets these demands with serious performance upgrades across the board.
Key Upgrades Over the A41: vs A42 TRAIL
-
Superior Wet Performance: The A42 reduces tire slip ratio under straight-line acceleration by 14%, offering exceptional stability and peace of mind when you get caught in sudden downpours.
-
Massive Boost in Wear Life: Bridgestone has increased wear life by 18% on the front tire and an impressive 25% on the rear, keeping you on the road for longer tours without worrying about early replacement.
-
Quieter, More Comfortable Ride: A 15% reduction in tire noise translates to drastically reduced rider fatigue on long-distance highway stretches.
Designed for the top models in the category: the BMW R 1300 GS, Honda Africa Twin, and Yamaha Ténéré 700
While riders may not always be interested in the technical details of tires, choosing the right one is essential to unlocking the full potential of modern adventure bikes. With launch sizes ranging from 2027 to 2028, the Battlax A42 is aimed directly at the market leaders:
- Front (120/70 R19) & Rear (170/60 R17): the standard tire fitment for the iconic BMW R 1300 GS (and its Adventure version), as well as the Ducati Multistrada V4 and the Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Explorer
- Front (90/90 V21) & Rear (150/70 ZR18 or 150/70 R17): essential for the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin, the KTM 1390 Super Adventure, the Yamaha Ténéré 700, and the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE.
- Street-legal sizes (120/70 ZR17 and 160/60 ZR17 planned for 2028): for mid-displacement adventure bikes like the Kawasaki Versys 650.
