Avon Tires has launched the newest member of its motorcycle tire range: AVON 3D SUPERSPORT, a hypersport tire designed for both street and track use to offer riders exceptional grip, handling and stability.
Designed, developed and manufactured at Cooper Tire's European engineering center in Melksham, the Avon 3D SUPERSPORT combines grip and durability to offer sport and superbike riders a superb hypersport package.
The 3D SUPERSPORT is characterized by three key technologies that make the super sports car what it is. The tire's advanced tread design generates a lot of grip by improving contact with the road. This is achieved through an all-new tread design with an increased "land-to-sea" ratio, meaning a larger tire contact patch and smaller tread profile compared to the previous model.
Engineered for the track, the 3D SUPERSPORT's construction optimizes handling, stability and rider feedback by bringing the feel of the track to the street. Although the tire is designed for riders who primarily drive on the road, the Avon Tires development team conducted extensive track testing to ensure that the 3D SUPERSPORT also offers convincing and reliable performance when driven on the track.
Avon Tires' advanced silica dual-compound technology ensures drivers can benefit from impressive grip while maximizing the longevity of the tyre. The rear tire in particular has a more resilient compound in the center for good mileage when riding upright and a softer compound on the edges for fantastic cornering grip.
The 3D SUPERSPORT is offered in six sizes: one in the front and five in the back. These include two rear wheel sizes that are new to Avon Tires in the hypersport segment (180/60ZR17 and 200/55ZR17), allowing them to be fitted to a wide range of sport and superbikes.

Avon Tyres is celebrating its centenary of making motorcycle tyres this year. It is currently the only manufacturer of road-going motorcycle tyres based in the UK. Over the last century, famous motorcycle racers such as Geoff Duke, John Surtees, Mike Hailwood and Barry Sheene have raced and won on Avon Tyres. The firm has won 13 Supersport and four Production class championships on two wheels as well as Isle of Man TT victories on both three and two wheels.
3D sipes - with interlocking three dimensional points to improve stability and grip, limit tread flex, and allow the tire to warm up quickly.
New Belting - A new design of wind-on-belt material used in the rears increases the footprint size at all lean angles, improving grip.
TE - Triple Extrusion tread compounds – durable rubber in the centre to aid mileage and softer compounds on the shoulders to aid grip. 3rd compound underneath binds both compounds and facilitates the tire to stay cooler which increases tire longevity.
