Pirelli presents the PIRELLI ANGEL GT III, the new radial Sport Touring tire that, compared to its predecessors, combines improved low-effort handling with enhanced wet behavior and more consistent performance throughout its entire life cycle, all while preserving Pirelli's sporty DNA. Compared to other products in the ANGEL family, the ANGEL GT III rear tire has been designed to offer better durability levels and reduced rolling noise, which benefits overall comfort thanks to a new tread pattern. Finally, the product features a new high-contrast sidewall with the ANGEL symbol and "Gran Turismo" lettering.
The ANGEL GT III picks up the legacy of the ANGEL family, which over the last fifteen years has contributed to evolving the segment standards for motorcyclists seeking a balance between sportiness, riding pleasure, and an aptitude for long journeys. Available starting in early 2027, the ANGEL GT III represents the fourth generation of the family, inaugurated by the ANGEL ST and later evolved with the ANGEL GT and ANGEL GT II. The range has supported Pirelli's progressive expansion in the radial Sport Touring segment, one of the most relevant in the European market. Each generation has introduced significant technological and performance advancements, earning growing appreciation from users and helping consolidate the brand's presence in the segment.
Developed to meet the needs of modern medium and high-displacement Sport Touring, Crossover, and Naked motorcycles, the ANGEL GT III was designed around a clear goal: to offer the Gran Turismo riding experience according to Pirelli's interpretation, delivering a high level of control, comfort, and riding pleasure.
The new product stands out primarily for a major improvement in "soft handling" (low-effort riding), a characteristic particularly appreciated by users of this tire category. The goal of Pirelli's designers was to help make the motorcycle more intuitive, fluid, and less demanding during daily riding and long trips, while preserving the precision and responsiveness typical of the brand's sporty DNA.
Particular attention was also dedicated to wet performance, an area where Pirelli has worked to further strengthen its market position. The ANGEL GT III offers a high sense of safety and control on wet or low-grip asphalt, further elevating the standards already achieved by previous generations.
Another central point of the project concerns the consistency of performance throughout the tire's life cycle. Thanks to intense development work, the ANGEL GT III maintains more homogeneous and constant dynamic characteristics over time, even as wear increases. This allows the rider to continue benefiting from high levels of control and riding pleasure for the entire lifespan of the tire.
While taking a significant step forward in terms of comfort and ease of riding, the ANGEL GT III remains faithful to Pirelli's tradition and sporty DNA. The sporty performance, steering precision, and support during dynamic cornering confirm the distinctive character of the product, allowing the rider to enjoy a typically Pirelli experience even over long distances.
Travel comfort has been further increased through specific work on reducing the rolling noise of the rear tire, an aspect that is particularly important for riders who use their motorcycles for touring and covering long distances. Less riding fatigue contributes not only to the pleasure of the trip but also to overall safety.
From an aesthetic point of view, the ANGEL GT III evolves the visual identity of the family while maintaining its distinctive traits. The new tread pattern adopts and reinterprets the characteristic graphical elements that made the ANGEL range recognizable, creating a strong link with its predecessors while expressing a clear stylistic evolution.
The tire also introduces a new high-contrast sidewall design, embellished by the iconic angel symbol and the "Gran Turismo" lettering—a direct reference to a concept deeply tied to Italian motorcycle culture: traveling fast, with comfort and style. It is a philosophy that the ANGEL GT III interprets authentically, combining a sporty soul with a touring vocation in a product designed to accompany the rider on any road route.
With the ANGEL GT III, Pirelli opens a new chapter in its history within the Sport Touring segment, confirming its desire to continue innovating and raising the segment's benchmark, just as every generation of the ANGEL family has done since its debut.
Bilbao (Spain) – 2012 The new Pirelli Angel GT tyres début on Basque soil in Bilbao for the unveiling of the latest arrival to the Ducati house, the DUCATI Multistrada 1200 S Granturismo. In fact, the new Angel GT sport touring tyre in the 190/55 R17 size on the rear and 120/70 R17 on the front will be standard equipment on this brand new version of the appreciated Borgo Panigale model as yet another demonstration of the strong "made in Italy" partnership between the two companies.
Angel GT conveys Pirelli's maximum DNA levels in terms of performance, which stays high for the entire life of the tyre, as well as remarkable mileage that is at least 15% more than the Angel ST. The typical Pirelli sports attitude and top notch performance on wet roads goes along with this feature thanks to an in depth study of the compounds and geometry as well as the positioning of the grooves in the tread. In fact, the unique nature of the Angel GT lies precisely in the fact that its excellent characteristics suffer limited deterioration as it eats up kilometres, all the way to the end of the product's life cycle. Pirelli sums up this property as “Performance Mileage”. Angel GT is the natural descendant of the Angel ST, a tyre with multiple victories under its belt in the sport touring comparison tests conducted by the most prestigious international motorcycling magazines. Compared to its predecessor, Angel GT substantially increases mileage, grip and handling in the wet and, even more importantly, is able to maintain those properties at a high level over time.
The tread design on the Angel GT is an evolution of the Angel ST tread in technological terms because it was designed for the primary purpose of providing regular wear and excellent water drainage guaranteed by both the front tyre and by the new arrangement of the grooves on the rear tyre.
As regards the compounds, the Angel GT is a dual blend that uses a compound designed to obtain high mileage at the centre, while the compound on the shoulders is different with a high silica content in order to guarantee exceptional performance even in the wet.
For the Multistrada 1200, 1200 S Touring and 1200 S Pikes Peak versions, Ducati confirmed the Pirelli Scorpion Trail as the standard equipment tyre in 190/55 R17 on the rear and 120/70 R17 for the front. Suitable for street enduro motorcycles, also capable of long trips and excursions with light off-road sections,
Pirelli Scorpion Trail tyres are sporty on the road, but able to effectively get clear on unpaved surfaces as well. They have an innovative tread design which combines high level performance with modern design, using 0° steel belt technology in order to ensure superior stability and excellent handling on any type of road surface, even under a full load.
The Scorpion Trail compound, recently revamped with latest generation components, allows better traction in any weather conditions and improved mileage.
The tread is the first in its category with a design that only repeats itself four times. This allows a longer, unique and aggressive design to be obtained which guarantees traction and control even on unsurfaced roads. The drainage ability and its anti-aquaplaning capacity are ensured by the geometry of the drainage grooves and in particular, the groove profiles are variable width and able to displace even standing water.
The structure is available in two versions:
- Standard, for less powerful bikes with a more marked off-road attitude
- Radial with 0° steel belting, perfect to withstand the power of modern Enduro touring bikes
The front tyre, thanks to the zero degree steel belt, provides the rider with full control and precision in curves, even in critical conditions. Furthermore, the layout of the steel belt around the profile is denser closer to the shoulder and lighter toward the centre, providing absolute stability in a straight line as well as high speed and extreme precision in turns.
The rear compound features a very high percentage of Silica and is able to provide good grip in the wet and the option of a quick warm-up without sacrificing traction on hot and humid roads or in a wide spectrum of weather conditions.
