For the second year running Dunlop has taken an incredible clean sweep with five out of five wins at the Isle of Man TT races. Adding to the unique victory, it was Honda Dunlop rider Ian Hutchinson who took all five victories, the only time in the 101 year history of the TT races that a single rider has swept the board.Hutchinson started the week as he meant to go on, taking the first of the two Superbike races with fellow Honda Dunlop rider Michael Dunlop taking the second spot on the podium. Both riders delivered their convincing result on Dunlop Ntec slicks. The one-two victory was to be repeated in the first of the Supersport races, with Hutchinson, now on Dunlop D211GP tyres, again taking the win followed by Dunlop in the second spot.

There will be a running change to the front tyre on 2009 models. Dunlop D407F front tires will be changing over to D408F tires during the first half of calendar year 2009. The primary difference between the two constructions is the direction of the tread. This will be executed as a running change for MY2009. The D408F tire will offer improved tire wear for some customers over the D407F.

Important Note:
When mounting the tires, refer to the directional arrows on the sidewall to ensure correct directional rotation.

With the new Sportec M5 Interact, the premium German brand opens a new chapter in motorcycle tire construction: an innovative 5 zone tension technology inside brings a custom-tailored grip level, excellent handling and confident stability at every lean angle demanded in any driving condition.

This technology, along with Greek “Pi”-inspired tread grooves specifically placed for maximizing tire flexibility and new high-silica compounds for supreme dry grip and wet confidence, elevates the Sportec M5 Interact as the ideal tire for all sport bikes and naked bikes, from its high performance capabilities to its clean all-round look.

Following the sport-touring Roadtec Z6 Interact and the racing-oriented Racetec Interact, comes the new Sportec M5 Interact, the perfect all-round supersport tire from Metzeler boasting innovative Interact Technology.
This all-encompassing approach to development perfectly matches the tire’s structure, 0°-steel belt, tread design and compounds for a combination of high performance even in wet conditions, rideability and wear uniformity.

Interact: 5 Zones Tension Technology

Metzeler engineers answered the most diverse requirements of the supersport segment with a new stage of development on the tensions of the tire’s steel-belt: The new Sportec M5 Interact boasts five well-defined zones over the entire contour of the tire, achieving always the best grip lean for each angle, stability and constant feedback.

This diagram shows the different tension and grip zones of the Metzeler Sportec M5 Tire. Interact technology is a precise tuning of the high-tech steel belt winding tensions combined with a perfectly matched carcass, without the discontinuity experienced by alternative multi-compound products. With this new structure, Metzeler engineers also succeeded in optimizing the total area of the tire footprint at every lean angle with up to an 8% increase, while improving also its shape and pressure distribution. This success is felt in every situation: with an increased stability in a straight line, better contact feel at the central part of the curve and safe grip at full lean.

The tread pattern of the new Sportec M5 Interact is the result of an extensive series of tests to achieve high effectiveness in dry (stability) and wet (drainage) conditions, but also provides an increased life for the tire.

The registered design of the Sportec M5 Interact tire tread resembles the Greek letter "Pi", a component to the formula of a perfect circle. The shape and distribution the tread grooves contributes to the overall performance of the Sportec M5 Interact with very effective water drainage as well as a superb flexibility. This increased flexibility complements the Interact-based tire structure in maintaining an optimized contact area to avoid slippage which positively affects wear uniformity and thus mileage.

High Silica Mixture

The two newly developed tread compounds of the Sportec M5, unique between front and rear, seamlessly partner with the Interact structure. Derived from a completely new mixing procedure and produced with a larger percentage of silica, they bring top-of-segment adhesion on dry land as well as uncompromising confidence in wet conditions, still keeping a rapid warm-up time for a maximum supersport grip level right from the first pull of the throttle.

Lean Indicator

An additional motorcycle tire first comes from the Sportec M5’s new lean indicator which offers riders visual confirmation of the maximum level of the tire’s usage: riders can verify which of the 5-stage markings were contacted while riding. The five lean indicator markings are placed on the shoulder of the rear tire where the profile meets the road surface at angles of approximately 25°, 30°, 35°, 40° and 45° (depending on vehicle weight and tire pressure).

The new Sportec M5 Interact will be available starting from the 1st of February, 2010

From February 2010 onwards Bridgestone’s latest “full spec” sport touring tyre will be available in European markets. The Battlax BT-023 replaces the BT-021, and the Japanese manufacturer reports that the new tyre offers a significant upgrade in mileage and wet performance compared with its predecessor, as well as by meeting the handling expectations of the most demanding sport riders. All in all, adds Bridgestone, the BT-023 provides a wider range of choices for larger bikes by delivering consistent high-level touring and sport riding performance.

The latest sport motorcycle tire from Pirelli intended to span both street and track usage As Pirelli gains more knowledge and experience as the spec tire manufacturer for the World Superbike Championship, that technology continues to trickle down to its street-oriented production rubber for sale to the general public. The latest example of that racing development is the company’s new Diablo Rosso Corsa tire that was unveiled at the Milan EICMA show. Intended as a replacement for the Diablo Corsa III tire that debuted back in ‘06, the new Diablo Rosso Corsa is said to exceed its predecessor’s performance in key areas such as overall mileage and grip in both dry and wet conditions. The new Pirelli is credited with three design patents, the foremost being Enhanced Patch Technology (EPT), derived from the company’s extensive WSBK experience for an optimized contact patch area at all lean angles on road and track, providing rider confidence and effective power transfer to the ground in any riding condition. EPT is complemented by the “III zones compound” rear tire, with a new compound in the middle section offering better mileage; ample shoulder zone compound is straight from the WSBK arena. The Diablo Rosso Corsa’s tread pattern includes a slick-like area on the rear shoulders while the tread grooves are selectively concentrated in the centre and shoulders. The aggressive tread design results in quick warm-up and consistent water drainage for great control on wet surfaces.

For the first time in their long history, Michelin® and Harley-Davidson® have joined forces to develop the all-new MICHELIN® Scorcher™ “31” tire, which carries both companies’ trademarks on its sidewalls and the signature Harley-Davidson logo carved into the shoulder.
