Michelin will take the short journey across home soil as it heads to the fifth round of the 2016 MotoGP™ World Championship which will be staged at the historic Le Mans circuit in France.

Michelin will be travelling to Jerez in Spain as the fourth round of the MotoGP™ Championship takes place at one of the most visited and eagerly anticipated events of the year. The French tyre manufacturer has already spent a number of days testing at the Spanish circuit during the lead-up to this season and will arrive at Jerez with tyres specifically designed to meet the demands of the wide-ranging layout of the circuit. Using data gathered from tests held last November and December, and the information acquired from three challenging races so far this season. Michelin will supply range of tyres which are designed to provide good handling and performance, whilst still providing stability, durability and safety. The front tyre allocation will feature all three compounds – soft, medium and hard – which can be identified by their white, no colour and yellow bands respectively.

Michelin Australia today launched the new MICHELIN StarCross 5 range of motocross tyres.

Available in four versions (Hard, Medium, Soft and Sand) MICHELIN StarCross 5 tyres are designed to give high levels of performance on all types of ground conditions and terrain found in motocross and cross country races.

Lighter casing has reduced weight by as much as 15 percent, with the average across the StarCross 5 range about 10 per cent. The most obvious by-product of trimming the 'fat' is less unspring weight, which has palpable benefits in terms of braking, handling and general manoeuvrability.

The lighter casing is down to a new production technology, with the three-ply nylon design jettisoned in favour of a two-ply polyester construction. Michelin claims the update has not only reduced tyre 'rebound' but lateral rigidity remains unaffected. And the StarCross 5 tyres also also require less 'warm-up' compared to their predecessors.

Designed for track use, the MICHELIN Power Cup Ultimate is the treaded, road-legal version of the MICHELIN Power Slick Ultimate, but with genuine sporting credentials. It, too, is designed for faster riders and features the same performance-enhancing evolutions as the Power Slick Ultimate.

The range features a single version of the front tyre (medium/B) and a choice of three versions for the rear tyres (A, B and C) depending on track temperature and the demands made by the track.

190/55 ZR 17 A
190/55 ZR 17 B
190/55 ZR 17 C

The Michelin Power Slick Ultimate  range was developed for experienced riders looking to set quick lap times. It benefits directly from the latest racing-developed technological breakthroughs. Its grip on dry surfaces is exceptional and it is extremely easy to master.

The front tyre, which features a new construction and compound, ensures impressive, reassuring cornering precision, not to mention enhanced grip under braking.

The rear provides maximum grip under acceleration in addition to outstanding longevity.

The range includes a choice of two versions for the front tyre (a medium/B compound and a harder/C alternative), plus three options for the rear tyre (soft/A-medium/B-hard/C) depending on track temperature and layout.

The particularly competitive MICHELIN Power Slick Ultimate range is perfectly suited to track racing. This season, for example, it is the tyre used by all competitors in the Spanish CEV championship, a fiercely-contested series which has seen Michelin enjoy an unbroken run of five titles since 2010.

EIGHT BRANDS, 11 MODELS, TWO CATEGORIES  - This time eight tire manufactures stepped up to the plate, including Avon, Bridgestone, Continental, Dunlop, Michelin, Metzeler, Pirelli and Shinko. We asked each to submit one or more samples of its current sport rubber designed for highperformance street riding (not racing) in 120/70-17 front and 190/55-17 rear fitment for a 2014 Suzuki GSX-R1000. We then divided the models into two categories: ‘A’ and ‘B’. The A group are the premium, top-of-the-line tires in each manufacturer’s respective line-up, while the B group represent a more affordable, but still capable sport tire solution.

Motorradreifen: PIRELLIPIRELLI DIABLO SUPERCORSA SP  "This is the tire. The first thing I noticed is how tall the rear tire was. It really modifies the dynamic of the motorcycle. It puts more weight on the front and helps its steering response. What more can you ask for? Immediate warm-up time, incredible Velcro-like grip through all parts of the turn with loads of that precious feel that makes you want to push the bike harder. My favorite tire of the bunch and the one that I’d mount on my bike for performance riding."
