To use the graphene additive in its compounds, Vittoria has entered into a joint venture with Directa Plus SpA. The company recently announced that it has received the patent for Graphene Plus (G +) tire elastomer composition. G + simultaneously reduces drag and increases adhesion in automotive, motorcycle and bicycle tires.
A statement from Directa Plus states: "G + tires use the cumulative effect of reducing rolling resistance and increasing grip at the same time, resulting in a tire that is faster and safer in both braking and extreme weather conditions In addition, the effectiveness of G + reduces fuel consumption and increases the life of the tire through lower wear, making G + both cost-effective and environmentally sustainable. "
Today, Vittoria already uses Graphene in its high-performance tires, which make up 600,000 of the annually produced 7m bicycle tires, and helps Vittoria compete against giants like Michelin and Continental. "We have a much better grip, it's much, much faster, lasts longer, has better puncture protection".
