Dunlop's new sand tire Dunlop Geomax MX14, developed in collaboration with top riders from the Motocross World Championship (MXGP), is now available for all motocross riders.
The successor to the Geomax MX12 was designed for extremely sandy conditions and offers drivers noticeable traction advantages at the start, on straights and when exiting corners - whether in deep sand or on sandy surfaces with hard subsoil. The greatly improved overall performance was achieved by optimizing the profile, a new rubber compound and the adapted construction.
The Geomax MX14 was already able to demonstrate its performance as a development tire in the 2021 MXGP season: Kawasaki works rider Romain Febvre won in Lommel with ease. In addition, Dunlop drivers were able to win the start with a holeshot in three out of five sand races. Now available as a standard product, this development tire offers motocross riders the same level of performance as the top riders in the world championship.
The new profile design with its shovel-like profile blocks is an absolute eye-catcher. The height of the profile blocks has been increased by 18% compared to the Geomax MX12. Together with the curved shape of the lugs and the optimized distance between the lugs, the sandy surface can now be penetrated much faster, so that sand and dirt can be captured in larger quantities. The result is sensational traction values.
The rubber compound has also been revised and is now significantly more resistant. Longer polymer chains ensure more strength in the compound, which reduces possible lug breakouts to a minimum and also increases traction. Improved self-damping after jumps is achieved by the additional carcass layer, which gives drivers exceptional controllability and thus saves valuable seconds.
Luca Davide Andreoni, Marketing Manager, Dunlop Motorrad Europe: “We wanted to develop a motocross tire that is a step ahead in every respect - not only compared to its predecessor, but also compared to its competitors. The Geomax MX14 has already impressively proven this in the last MXGP season. Drivers will immediately notice the confident sand performance.”
The new Geomax MX14 is now available in 8 sizes and is only available as a rear tire. The MX14 is combined in MXGP with the Geomax MX33 front tire, which was developed for soft terrain and, in combination with the MX14, offers the best performance values on sandy tracks.
