The innovative tyre, which will be sold from 2014 as exclusive original equipment on the new electric scooter from BMW, minimises roll resistance in favour of greater energy savings
The new scooter tyre from Metzeler Feelgreen has already been chosen as original equipment by BMW for it’s electric C evolution scooter, unveiled today at the international press conference and which will be used by some journalists at the Olympic Games to move around the area. The new electric scooter from BMW will be fitted with the following set of Metzeler Feelgreen tyres: 120/70 -15 (56S) FEELGREEN on the front and 160/60 R15 FEELGREEN on the rear.
There are many factors which affect the energy or fuel consumption of a two-wheeled vehicle and the tyres play a crucial role. Consumption is based on the concept that, in order to move a tyre forward, energy is required. The new Feelgreen from Metzeler was designed to guarantee low energy dissipation. Metzeler engineers worked hard to reduce the weight of the tyre by 17% and the rolling resistance by more than 25% compared to the Metzeler Feelfree. The rolling resistance figure could be even higher once the current perfecting phase ends. The Feelgreen riding performance maintains the characteristic elements that Metzeler products are famous for: quick warm-up and excellent handling, which is indispensable for city riding.
NOW NO SCOOTER RIDER NEED FEAR THE WINTER - With the introduction of the new 100/80-16, 110/70-16 and 110/70-13 sizes for the front and 120/80–16, 130/70 R16 and 140/60-14 for the rear, the Feelfree Wintec family has grown. New Metzeler Racetec - With InteractTM Technology
Advances in evolution are something you can’t stop, above all in the motorcycle racing world. Tyres must lead the process of evolution in order to match the increasingly sharp precision and demanding behaviour of the latest racing bikes. Metzeler’s answer is based on technology: the new Racetec adopts INTERACT TM technology, the latest evolution of the patented 0° steel belt. The main target of this new development was the desire to make one step forward in the PURE LAPTIME project, designing what we call the new PURE RACETIME project: regardless the skill of the rider, the aim is to shave seconds not only off his best lap times but also the overall race times, thanks to a very constant performance all the way to the end. The New Racetec design is tremendously effective, and it’s cool to look at. It is characterized by the concept of controlling the distribution of land/sea ratio from the crown to the shoulder, following an optimized tread distribution (patent pending). Metzeler Racetec will continue as the official tyre supplier and presenting sponsor of both the National Superstock and National Superstock Cup championships in a two year contract announced today by Dorna UK, the commercial rights holder of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.
Metzeler Racetec has been the official control tyre of these two heavily subscribed production racing championships since 2005 and the partnership will continue through both the 2007 and 2008 seasons.
The Metzeler Racetec National Superstock Championship and Metzeler Racetec National Superstock Cup will each be decided over 13 rounds held alongside the country’s premier motorcycle racing series, the British Superbike Championship.
The agreement with Metzeler Racetec confirms that they continue as the Official Tyre Supplier to the championships, providing all competitors with a tyre package throughout, and at a significantly subsidised rate. Additionally Metzeler Racetec will also reward performance on track with the provision of free of charge tyres for podium-placed riders against their season package.
