Mitas is set to launch the newest member of its road tire family with the introduction of the MITAS TOURING FORCE-SP tire line.
The first four size: 120/70 ZR17, 160/60 ZR17, 180/55 ZR17, and 190/55 ZR17 will hit the market in April.
Additional sizes will be released throughout the year, expanding the range to a total of eight sizes.
Gustavo Pinto Teixeira, Head of Mitas Motorcycle tires, explains: “The TOURING FORCE-SP builds on the success of the original TOURING FORCE tire. It is poised to become the go-to choice for riders seeking a sport touring tire with quick and precise response.”
The TOURING FORCE-SP tires feature Multi Compound Tread Technology (MCTT), providing excellent mileage and cornering grip. The high silica content ensures superior grip on wet roads. Additionally, the lightweight construction allows for quick and precise responses, enhancing the overall riding experience without sacrificing tire durability.
Building on a successful debut season as the exclusive tire supplier to every class in the Campionato Italiano Velocità (CIV), Dunlop unveils key innovations for 2025.
Leveraging the intense competition of CIV and other prestigious national and world championships its tires are raced in, Dunlop continues to refine and develop the latest track tire technology using crucial data. This ongoing innovation enhances both performance and rider confidence on the track, in classes at all levels.
In the highly competitive Supersport 600NG category, which saw six different winners across the twelve races and featured grids of more than 40 bikes last year, Dunlop will bring some key developments such as the introduction of a new softer rear compound for the riders to choose from, in addition to the new soft-medium rear tire launched in 2024.
Equally, Superbike riders will receive a new front tire, which, thanks to its new construction, will improve braking stability. In qualifying, a new rear compound will increase riders’ ability to push for rapid lap times over one or two laps longer than with the previous tire. Furthermore, with Production bike riders sharing a grid with the Superbike class, there are sure to be even more opportunities for overtakes and thrilling racing action with two classes of bikes on track at the same time.
In the 2025 tire test by Motorrad magazine, six sport and six hypersport tires in sizes 120/70 ZR17 and 190/55 ZR17 were tested on a BMW S1000 RR on country roads, racetracks, and a wet test track, with the prescribed country road pressures of 2.5/2.9 bar (front/rear). For the racetrack, the pressure was lowered according to the tire manufacturer's recommendations.
"Country roads are the primary territory of motorcyclists. This is precisely where tires must always be reliable, ideally transparent, and perform well for a long time. Maximum riding pleasure goes hand in hand with plenty of grip, good feedback, and precise handling. Add to that excellent wet grip, and everyone could be happy."
"The crowns in the country road classification go to the two freshest tires. The Dunlop Sportsmart MK 4 achieved the highest overall score of the large test field, making it "King of the Road," while Michelin's Power GP2 took home the biggest trophy among the hypersports. A closer look at the table clearly shows where the hypersports lose their points on country roads."
"Anyone who knows a little about tires knew in advance about the dominance of road sport tires in the wet test. We didn't expect the new Dunlop Sportsmart MK 4 to perform directly on par with last year's rain champion, the Bridgestone S23. Also unexpected was the performance of the Michelin Power GP2, which outpaced its hypersport counterparts in the rain."
"Hypersport – the name says it all. When it's all about orbital time on the infinity of a racetrack, the hypersports score points.
Finally, they can exploit their grip advantage and give the road riders a run for their money. However, the boundaries are fluid. Even with the Metzeler M9 RR or a Diablo Rosso IV, you're well-dressed as a casual racer without lap record ambitions.
The Bridgestone Corporation announces another original equipment approval: The Bridgestone Battlax Sport Touring T32 will be supplied as an OE tire for the new sport touring models Tracer9, Tracer9 GT and Tracer 9 GT+ from Yamaha Motor, Ltd.

The Honda Gold Wing is certainly a very special bike and Michelin is focusing on the needs of this bike to present a tyre developed specifically for it. Under the name Michelin Road W GT, this tyre has been presented at the Milan 2024 show.
The Gold Wing is undoubtedly one of the largest GTs on the market and this means that many of its users have a very high annual mileage. According to Michelin, its low centre of gravity, which gives it commendable agility for a bike of its size and weight, together with the torque and response of the high-displacement six-cylinder engine, subject the tyre to extreme stress, especially when accelerating, braking or taking successive curves.
Maxis are not just a scooter for the city: their use on the road, for leisure trips, has gained followers and Michelin wants to offer an option focused on this dual use, daily use and sports driving with the new Michelin Power Shift.
A tyre that aims to offer greater performance and versatility than a standard tyre for this type of sporty maxi scooters and which replaces the Pilot Road 4SC and Pilot Power 3SC, thus simplifying the choice for users.
The new Power Shift benefits from Reinforced Radial X-Evo technology in the casing and the familiar 2CT+ dual-compound tread. This means improved rigidity when leaning the bike and therefore greater stability even when accelerating out of corners.

RoadSmart IV GT receives BUYING TIP recommendation "Landstraße/Alltag"*
Test verdict "VERY GOOD" - also in the wetness score
After 2022 and 2023, the DUNLOP ROADSMART IV sport touring tire has once again achieved a very good test result. In this year's touring tire test by MOTORRAD magazine (issue 06/2024), the tested RoadSmart IV GT received the BUYING TIP recommendation "Road/Allday" (country road/everyday). Six tires were tested in sizes 120/70ZR17 and 180/55ZR17 on a BMW R 1250 RS.
The RoadSmart IV GT was the test winner in the 2022 touring tire test (issue 7/2022; tested sizes: 120/70ZR17 and 180/55ZR17). In 2023, the RoadSmart IV in the travel enduro dimensions 120/70ZR19 and 170/60ZR17 once again impressed the MOTORRAD test crew: In the "Landstraße/Alltag" category, the RoadSmart IV received the corresponding BUYING TIP award.
The MOTORRAD test crew was particularly impressed by the excellent handling on country roads: "The Dunlop's special feature is its very light-footed handling. [...] Sporty riders will be convinced by the good grip and the good feedback at a faster pace."
The RoadSmart IV was also convincing in terms of wet grip, so that the verdict was VERY GOOD here, as on country roads: "Saturated grip in the wet combined with light-footed handling result in good lap times in the wet test. The limit range is announced early, the traction is above average and makes it a well-predictable tire in bad weather."
A good grade was achieved in the third test criterion "wear": "It wears out on average, but very homogeneously front and rear. The profile wear does not harm the handling, and in direct comparison it remains ahead of the competition in this discipline even at the end of the wear test."
Here are some additional details from the test:
Overall, the RoadSmart IV GT performed very well in the MOTORRAD touring tire test 2024. It received the BUYING TIP recommendation "Landstraße/Alltag" and the test verdict "VERY GOOD."
If you are looking for a sport touring tire that offers excellent handling, grip, and stability in all weather conditions, the Dunlop RoadSmart IV GT is a great option.
