The collaboration between METZELER and Indian Motorcycle has been strengthened with the German tyre brand chosen as a development partner and supplier for the latest and most powerful bagger of the U.S. motorcycle manufacturer. The METZELER CRUISETEC tyres were selected, after a long process of joint development between the Research & Development and Testing departments of the two brands, resulting in exclusive original equipment designation for the new 2020 Indian Challenger.
CRUISETEC™ tyres, installed with the 130 / 60B19 66H front and 180 / 60R16 80H rear sizes, are equipping all versions of the new Indian Challenger, including the Dark Horse and Limited models.
METZELER has been involved with Indian Motorcycle since the start of the project, actively participating in the development of the motorcycle by offering its contribution to refining and improving the riding experience.
All this has been possible thanks to the collaborative work between the technicians of METZELER and those of Indian® Motorcycle, who have succeeded in establishing a perfect harmony between the CRUISETEC™ tyres and the new Challenger, ultimately creating an inseparable combination. The new Challenger was developed to fit and perform at its best with CRUISETEC™ tyres.
With the extension of the partnership with Dorna WSBK Organization for a further three years, the union born in 2004 between Pirelli and the production-derived series will boast a unique twenty-year collaboration in motorsport.
In response to the evolution of supersport machines, and confirming Pirelli's role as a leading tyre manufacturer in the international racing scene, starting from 2020 all WorldSBK Championship classes will use Pirelli DIABLO Superbike slick tyres.
In the WorldSBK category the larger sizes become the new reference as well as the rear 190/60 for WorldSSP and the switch to slick tyres will also gradually involve the national championships in which Pirelli participates. The SCX option will enter the range and also be available on the market.
Specially developed for Maxi Classic Racing, this tyre has already proven its superior performance. While still in development, the Bridgestone Battlax Classic Racing CR11 was a winner at the FIM Europe classic endurance championship (EEC). At the 4-hours Biker’s Classic in Spa-Francorchamps, it helped #10 Poweracing-Japauto take home first place and team #5 Roadrunner pick up the second place. In damp and tricky conditions, the best lap time and the
fastest pace were recorded with Bridgestone tyres.
The Battlax Classic Racing CR11 offers super-fast warm up - vitally important for races that don’t allow tyre warmers. The tread pattern is derived from Bridgestone’s grooved racing tyre, Battlax Racing R11. It gives the rider consistent grip and superior performance. With its high-performance V-MS-Belt (variable monospiral belt) construction on the front, this tyre provides
excellent braking stability and offers extra feedback when cornering. On the rear tyre, a combination of high-racing performance compounds in a 3-layer compound configuration boost performance in the wet. Compliant with the FIM Europe regulations for the Maxi Classic, this tyre is your ticket to racing success.
Available from March 2020, in size 110/80 R18 for the front and 150/65 R18 for the rear.

Avon Tyres’ new Avon TrekRider tyre gives adventure riders the best of both worlds New TrekRider combines off-road ability with performance on the road
Avon Tyres has launched the new TrekRider motorcycle tyre combining superb off-road and on-road performance.
The TrekRider is Avon’s first adventure tyre that offers a 50/50 split of on road versus off-road performance. Designed for light to medium trails, the tyre works as well in mud and gravel as it does on asphalt.
This new tyre will make choosing tyres for an adventure bike much simpler. Often when selecting the best road bike tyre, performance can be limited when driving on mud, but with a full-on dirt tyre, a bike’s roadholding can be affected. Avon’s new TrekRider has been designed to cut out any of this compromise.

Compound updates with the introduction of the new SCX and larger sizes for the DIABLO SUPERBIKE slicks: innovative rear tread pattern and two different compounds for the DIABLO Rain tyre.
The new technical solutions, produced from constant development work, will beused by WorldSBK and National Championship riders and, in line with Pirelli’s philosophy towards two-wheeled racing, will be available for purchase by all motorcycle riders.
Pirelli, upon completion of intense and constant development work which started in 2017 and continued throughout 2018, is pleased to introduce the new 2019 DIABLO™ range of tyres in compounds intended for track use to racers and motorcyclists all over the world.
The goal that guided this development, which has resulted in the new solutions, was to increase consistent performance and, especially for the rear, ‘mechanical resistance’.
The Pirelli DIABLO Supercorsa SC V3 tyres are grooved solutions intended for track use and dedicated to professional and amateur riders, as well as sport users seeking top spec performance on the track.
These tyres are also available in various compounds in order to take on the different types of asphalt and weather conditions that can be found on circuits all over the world but, unlike the DIABLO™ Superbike tyres, no SCX or SC3 compound is available.

The motorcycle manufacturer recommends a tyre pressure (to be taken from the vehicle documents / operating instructions) which must always be observed. This applies to the tyres with which the motorcycle was delivered.
Tire manufacturers sometimes deviate slightly from this. Since motorcycle tires are constructed differently, such as. different stiff carcass or carrying capacity, they also tolerate a different air pressure. The tire manufacturers test the latest tires on the motorcycle, or pass on the optimal duck for your tire based on experience. Over the years, it may well be that the recommendations of the tire manufacturer are much more accurate than what the motorcycle manufacturer recommended a few decades ago.
Recently, we also maintain the recommended air pressures in our myNETmoto / database. You can choose your bike to find the recommended tires and air pressure.
Unless the motorcycle has a TPMS motorcycle tire pressure monitoring system
These systems are only prescribed for cars and not for motorcycles, although the right tire pressure is much more important here than in the car.
It decides about life and death who, due to the wrong pressure, slips away and lands in the next ditch.
It is up to everyone, but we strongly recommend getting a TPMS.
