METZELER SPORTEC M7 RR elected by German magazine Motorrad as the best supersport tyre for the second time.

Created in 2014 from the experience in road racing activities and already the winner of the comparative organized that same year by the renowned German magazine, SPORTEC™ M7 RR is confirmed again as the number one tyre in its segment

SPORTECTM M7 RR, the tyre created from the experience of METZELER in road racing activities, won the 2016 supersport tyre comparative test organized by the German magazine Motorrad. The magazine tested the tyres of the SPORTECTM family, comparing them with Pirelli DIABLO ROSSO™ III, Continental Sport Attack 3, Bridgestone Battlax S21, Michelin Pilot Power 3 and Dunlop SportSmart2.

Michelin will take the short journey across home soil as it heads to the fifth round of the 2016 MotoGP™ World Championship which will be staged at the historic Le Mans circuit in France.

 

METZELER has won both the comparative of supersport tyres with SPORTEC™ M7 RR as well as the one devoted to sport touring tyres with the new ROADTEC 01, which also saw the ROADTEC Z8 INTERACT finish second

The British paper has published this week a large and detailed four-page article entitled "2016 TYRE TEST - GRIP FACTOR". This test compared both the main supersport and sport touring tyres on the market, and saw the METZELER SPORTEC™ M7 RR crowned victor in the former and the brand new METZELER ROADTEC™ 01 in the latter.

The latest addition to the Multistrada family will be on sale with SCORPION™ Trail II as original equipment tyres but, as an optional fitment, SCORPION™ Rally which is better suited to off-road use is also available 

The iconic brand confirms its undisputed leading status in the world of two-wheel racing, with its participation in 110 championships over five continents, including the Superbike World Championship, Motocross and Endurance, AMA Supercross Championship and British Superbike 

Addition to the range of compounds for riders to choose from: both front and rear, the new SC3, developed for endurance competition and situations in which good resistance and lasting performance are needed, has joined the existing family.

Michelin Australia today launched the new MICHELIN StarCross 5 range of motocross tyres.

Available in four versions (Hard, Medium, Soft and Sand) MICHELIN StarCross 5 tyres are designed to give high levels of performance on all types of ground conditions and terrain found in motocross and cross country races.

Lighter casing has reduced weight by as much as 15 percent, with the average across the StarCross 5 range about 10 per cent. The most obvious by-product of trimming the 'fat' is less unspring weight, which has palpable benefits in terms of braking, handling and general manoeuvrability.

The lighter casing is down to a new production technology, with the three-ply nylon design jettisoned in favour of a two-ply polyester construction. Michelin claims the update has not only reduced tyre 'rebound' but lateral rigidity remains unaffected. And the StarCross 5 tyres also also require less 'warm-up' compared to their predecessors.

The Pirelli SCORPION Trail II shows the best driving characteristics and excellent grip on wet and dry roads and combines this with high mileage. Already recognized as test winner >>, thanks to the new approval from Pirelli, the SCORPION™ Trail II is now also an icon of travel enduros -
the BMW R 1200 GS K50 / R 1200 GS Adventur K51 in the current version – available. Together with the existing homologations for the previous GS and GS Adventure series with four-valve boxer engines (from the R 1100 GS from 1994), the SCORPION™ Trail II is approved for all models of BMW's cult enduro bikes. Fans of the popular “white-blue” all-round motorcycles can therefore plan their next tour with peace of mind, because as a real “adventure touring” motorcycle tire, the new Pirelli is an ideal partner for long journeys and chasing curves on the home route.

Pirelli DIABLO™ Supercorsa SP have proven themselves once more to be the new reference point in the racing tyre segment for street use and the first choice for the ultra high performance bikes recently introduced to the market by the most prestigious motorcycle manufacturers. In fact, the brand new Ducati 1299 Panigale, 1299 Panigale S and Panigale R will come with these hypersport tyres as original equipment in:

120/70 ZR17 (58W) DIABLO SUPERCORSA SP V2 on the front and
200/55 R17 (78W) DIABLO SUPERCORSA SP V2 on the rear.

DIABLO™ Supercorsa SP is a concentration of technology which draws from Pirelli's racing experience and heritage as sole supplier of the World Superbike Championship since 2004, based on an ideal procedure of transferring sport technology to high performance street legal products. This street tyre, designed for professional riders and for bikers who have a sport street riding style but also love the track, provides racing performance typical of track-only products, allowing the user to have one ultra high performance product that can be used on the street or the track without having to make compromises. Compared to the compound version SC which is for track use, the DIABLO™ Supercorsa SP offers a bi-compound rear tyre in order to better adapt to street use, as well as more regular wear which favours mileage.

Unlike other tire manufacturers, who offer older models as budget low-end products, Continental has developed the Conti Motion, an innovative technology based on a whole new concept, to serve the needs of this sector.

SPORTEC™ Klassik is the new METZELER tyre in the Classic segment for owners of motorcycles built from the 70s. A segment #METZELER has always shown a great deal of attention, as proven by the current Vintage and #Classic range which includes products such as the Perfect ME 11, Perfect ME 77, ME 22, Block C and Lasertec.

Bound to a technology that, although still valid, could not fully benefit from the rapid development of the last decade, these motorcycles are often at a disadvantage compared to most modern machines equipped with the most sophisticated safety systems and cutting-edge tyres.

PIRELLI MT 60 RS is the Pirelli tyre designed for the DUCATI SCRAMBLER, the latest model launched by the Borgo Panigale company in four versions: Icon, Urban Enduro, Full Throttle and Classic.

The front 3.00' x 18' and the rear 5.50' x 17' wheels of the DUCATI SCRAMBLER are designed to be lightweight and will fit as original equipment the new enduro street tyres from Pirelli, the MT 60™ RS 110/80 R18 front and 180/55 R17 rear. These have been specially made for the DUCATI SCRAMBLER with a dedicated design of the knobs which offers excellent handling on any terrain.
