New road-focused hypersport tire offers huge improvement in precision, feedback and wet grip so riders can master the turns
Dunlop has revealed its latest road-focused hypersport tire, SportSmart mk4, featuring improvements to build on its predecessor’s high level of dynamic road performance for a wide variety of sports bikes.
Dunlop Motorcycle Tyres and Discovery Sports Events, the promoter of the FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC), have announced a three-year extension to their agreement. The announcement confirms Dunlop’s status as an Official Partner to EWC, extending a successful partnership that began in 2016.
The new agreement with the promoter and the International Motorcycling Federation also confirms Dunlop as the exclusive tyre supplier to the popular Superstock class for near-standard superbikes. This means that every team in this category will use Dunlop’s proven race-winning KR range of race tyres, providing the same level of high performance, durability and first class technical support to all Superstock teams, irrespective of their size.
Revised Endurance variant complements existing GP Racer D212
Increased durability makes it ideal for track days and club racing
Inspired by Dunlop’s Bol d’Or and Le Mans 24 hour success
Dunlop has announced new Endurance specifications of the highly-regarded GP Racer D212 track tyre. These new variants are aimed at track day riders who demand high levels of durability as well as consistent high performance. The existing GP Racer D212 was a race-winning tyre from its debut. Available in slick and road legal versions, the latter has been used to win Supersport races at the highest National level, including in the French Superbike Championship. Dunlop has now brought their FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC) winning expertise by adding a new GP Racer D212 ‘E’ Endurance specification to the range.
Dunlop has announced they will launch a fourth new tyre in their hypersport portfolio in March 2018. The Dunlop SportSmart TT has been developed to meet the needs of riders with the very latest sports bikes and performance roadsters who want to use the same tyre on track and for road riding.
The name SportSmart TT derives from Dunlop’s road focused SportSmart range and adds the letters TT, which refer to “Track Technology”.
The launch of the SportSmart TT marks Dunlop’s comeback to a segment of the market where they last competed with the renowned Qualifier RR over a decade ago.
The SportSmart TT is the fourth new Dunlop hypersport tyre to be launched in the past year and completes Dunlop’s strategy, announced last year, of taking a new approach to the segment in redefining their range around the goal of a ‘tyre for every rider’.
Following a race winning debut of key sizes and compounds in major motorsport championships, Dunlop has brought forward the introduction of the full range to July. Designed for the type of rider who has race team technical support and will have a full race set-up on their sports bike, Dunlop has introduced a range of new technologies into the latest D 213 GP PRO.
Dunlop has announced the launch of their latest tyre for the hypersport sector. Designed for ultimate street performance but with track capability, the latest
combines learnings taken from Dunlop’s World championship winning endurance racing programme with the experience gained in developing the revolutionary RoadSmart III Sport Touring tyre.
Dunlop Europe’s development team aimed for high objectives in the development of the latest tyre. The previous SportSmart2 had built a strong reputation for ultimate grip, and the replacement had to maintain this advantage but set a new testing benchmark for handling, feedback and low wear.
